How Merno Started

If you’ve ever lived through winter in Australia, you know cold feet are no joke. There’s the numbness… the stiffness… the toes-turning-purple kind of cold. I’ve always struggled with cold feet, and during winter, that meant painful chilblains and constant discomfort. When I went looking for a pair of warm socks, all I could find were two extremes: synthetic socks that overheated, or thick, scratchy wool socks that felt like wearing a carpet. I tried every option out there: cotton socks, acrylic blends, traditional wool. Nothing worked. And the ones that did? They were thick, bland, and completely lacking personality.

I wanted something better, something light, soft, breathable, and actually cozy that brings me comfort and joy. I needed a pair of socks I could wear while working from home, relaxing on the couch, or even sleeping on those icy nights.

So I decided to make my own.

Merno was born from a simple idea: socks should keep you warm and express your style. They should be soft, breathable, and durable without being boring.

What Makes Merno Different

Back in 2023, I had the simple idea to reinvent winter socks. That idea became Merno Socks.

After months of research, testing, and experimenting with different wool fibres, we discovered the perfect blend: 40% premium Australian Merino wool, known for its natural temperature-regulating softness, combined with a carefully balanced mix of fibres that enhance breathability, remove itchiness, add durability, and keep every pair incredibly lightweight.

The result? A uniquely soft, cloud-like sock that keeps you warm without overheating designed for real comfort, everyday wear, and a little extra delight.
